Our Story

Grace Chapel was birthed by our founding pastors, William and Evangeline Tait. Our story is a beautiful tapestry of God’s faithfulness and their faithfulness to His call. In 1990, Grace Chapel, under its initial name, Fountain of Joy Ministries, was planted in the suburb of Woodstock, infamously known as ‘The Preacher’s Graveyard.” Pastors William and Evangeline served faithfully in this community, even in the face of adversity, for they stood firm in God’s heart for the people of Woodstock and Cape Town. They knew what may have been broken had the potential to become beautiful in the hands of God. So they continued to stay, to sow, and to serve. In 2017, having faced deep and unexpected loss, Pastor Evangeline continued to lead and champion our church with courage, faith and greater vision. Two and a half years later, in 2019, Pastor Jethro Tait then became our lead pastor and GC stepped into a new season. While honouring the past, we welcomed the future that God was calling us to. Grace Chapel, as we continue to grow, remains what it has always been, a home of authentic community, constant prayer, and deep faith. This is home. We are family. That is our church.

Generosity is our Lifestyle

Giving

At GC, we believe that we have been called to not just be generous on occasion, but to live a life of generosity. We believe that everything we have is given by God, so we have the privilege of being generous in all aspects of our lives; our time, talent and treasure. Freely we have been given, so freely we give.
